Cyient DLM’s sales are growing faster than its operating profit. The electronics manufacturer reported a 26.5% rise in consolidated revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, while spending on sales, capabilities and product development weighed on margins.

The Breakdown

Revenue reached ₹393.1 crore. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, rose 9.5% to ₹34.2 crore. The EBITDA margin narrowed to 8.7% from 10.0% a year earlier.

The company linked the margin pressure to investment in sales, strategy and capabilities. Its presentation also identified a one-off revenue-mix effect and purchases for product development. Material costs rose 34.7%, faster than sales, while employee costs increased 28.2%.

Why the profit figures need unpacking

Reported net profit rose 5.8% to ₹34 crore. That included a gain of about ₹18.2 crore from revaluing an earnout liability, recorded under other income in the financial filing approved on October 15.

An earnout is a conditional payment associated with an acquisition, often linked to agreed financial targets. Lowering the estimated value of that obligation can create an accounting gain. It does not represent additional sales to customers.

Cyient DLM separately reported “normalised” net profit of ₹15.8 crore, up 25.8%, after excluding the gain. That is the company’s adjusted measure. The year-earlier quarter also contained an earnout reversal, of about ₹19.6 crore, so the reported profit comparison includes accounting gains in both periods.

The order book is the next test

The company reported a record order book of ₹2,813.7 crore, up ₹214.8 crore from the previous quarter. That represents work awaiting execution. It is separate from revenue already recognised, and its eventual contribution depends on delivery and timing.

Cyient DLM supplies electronics for industries including aerospace, defence, medical technology and industrial equipment. It is also seeking growth in semiconductor equipment, robotics and AI-related infrastructure. Those plans should be read alongside the current cost of building the capabilities to serve new business.

The Crunch

Sales growth and the order book show demand. Margins show the cost of serving it. At Cyient DLM, the clearest reading comes from keeping operating earnings, the company’s adjusted profit and the earnout gain separate.
