NHAI announced a Toll Plaza Feedback feature in its Rajmargyatra app on 19 October. For travellers, the useful question is which route fits the problem: sharing an experience, pursuing a complaint or getting help during a journey.
The Breakdown
According to NHAI, annual-pass users will receive an invitation to give feedback after crossing a National Highway toll plaza. All users can also open Toll Plaza Feedback in the app’s menu. They can rate the experience, choose relevant options and add remarks.
NHAI says it will use the information to identify and monitor service issues. Prompting users soon after a crossing could aid recall, although the release reports no measured service improvement.
When you want a complaint tracked
Complaint handling was already part of Rajmargyatra when it launched in August 2023. NHAI’s original description included geo-tagged photos or videos, grievance-status tracking and system-generated escalation if handling was delayed. It described a time-bound process without specifying a numerical deadline in that release.
The app’s current official Google Play description continues to advertise lodging and tracking complaints about road conditions, toll operations and facilities. Someone seeking follow-through on a specific issue therefore has a documented complaint route to look for.
For example, a traveller describing confusing lane signage could identify the plaza, direction of travel, date and approximate time, then explain what was unclear. Those are practical details to prepare, rather than a list of mandatory app fields. Any photograph should be taken only when safe, and never by a driver operating a moving vehicle.
Keep any complaint reference or acknowledgement the service provides. A low rating can express dissatisfaction; following an individual case needs a record that can be returned to. The new release does not explain whether submitting feedback also creates such a record.
When help is needed on the road
The official app listing identifies 1033 as the National Highway helpline with round-the-clock emergency support. For assistance during a journey, use the help channel rather than waiting for someone to act on a rating. The listing does not establish how quickly assistance will arrive.
What a rating can establish
The October announcement specifies no feedback-resolution deadline, refund entitlement or automatic penalty for a toll operator. Those outcomes should not be inferred from the availability of a rating button.
Repeated reports can indicate where to investigate. To assess improvement, an operator would need to check what changed and whether the issue recurred. Feedback volume alone cannot answer that.
The Crunch
Choose the channel around the outcome you need, then keep the information specific. Travellers benefit when an experience can be described clearly, a grievance can be followed and an urgent request reaches the right help service.
